An LLC or Corporation formed in Virginia can conduct business in other states. Each state has its own definition of what constitutes doing business in that state. If a Virginia LLC or Virginia corporation is doing business in another state, that other state requires that the Virginia business register in that other state. This is called a foreign LLC or foreign corporation registration and the process usually involves filling out a registration form, having a registered agent appointed in the other state and paying a filing fee (and probably an annual fee each year).
